Passing the Crown
The cool cities
have lost it
Seattle is septic
Portland is paunchy
Denver has dementia
Miami is myopic
Honolulu has a hernia
Phoenix is phucked up
Once homecoming kings and queens
now unfixable with plastic surgery alone
they reminisce about the old days
Soon they'll be startled to find
the uncool kids they teased
wearing the crowns:
Cincinatti
Pittsburgh
Bismark
Not because those cities were born all that
but because of what they are not
Yet.

I'm shopping for a new city and finding myself wondering if the uncool cities are really the hidden gems. The cool cities I once lived in- Denver, Portland, Seattle, are well past their prime.

There used to be a website called Dartonamap. I always landed in the middle of the ocean. Maybe I should be a mermaid.

I love Honoria's idea. Except I'd keep throwing the dart over and over. LOL
I get this. My small town has exploded with tourism and snooty big city drivers.
