Held on too long
Held on too long to a love that ran away
Held on too long to a love that I thought would stay
Held on too long to a piece of her heart
Held on too long even after it fell apart
Held on too long to the dream of us
Held on too long even though I know it’s not thus
Held on too long to start living again
Held on too long to start loving again
Held on too long to her but I lost myself
Held on too long kept myself on a shelf
Held on too long look at all the time that I’ve wasted
Held on too long but my love hasn’t abated
Held on too long to a love that ran away

I held on too long to a love that was gone. All the time I’ve wasted thinking somehow we would be back together. Life is short. I can’t get that time back.
