Lamentations
It was morning when I fell upon a rock,
I found myself torn, almost split in half.
Training every day to be highly skilled,
Unaware that I left the house's bolts for someone else with the spanner.
They say, "Travel to see the world, for it's not a circle,"
But roam too much, and you might turn into a fool.
My folks say being consistent is the key,
Yet even standing up comes with its own fee.
Those in the game think they're showing us the light,
But they're the very source of all the chaos we fight.
"Do this, do that," all while blaming us for wrongs,
Only the wise know you're the real villains all along.
Today's generation is overly influenced by foreign ways,
Accustomed to being spoon-fed, unaware of the value of a word.
I can't blame, for it's the world we live in,
We step forward only to realize we're moving backward.
Look at the map, and you'll see a beautiful country,
Yet we forgot the ground that raised us from nothing.
We blindfold our eyes, unable to see ahead,
Neglecting the foundations left by our forefathers.
It's so funny and sad—everything we wanted was ours,
Believing we were the chosen ones, but wolves in sheep’s clothing.
Humans are just like others in nature,
Yet gifted with logic and intellect to separate us from the wild.
But alas! A mighty baobab tree started as a tiny spinach seed,
Oh, my child, the baobab was once just spinach.
Do you see how greed leads you astray?
Human life is short, but the ladder is endless.
Don't let it be a case of blaming yourself too much,
For you're not the source of all your problems.
Let the government intervene to resolve your issues,
But remember, each breath you take relies on the trees that never rest.
I hope this serves as a lesson to you, who listens to death's whispers,
Your mother waits at home, counting on you as her last hope.
You think you know, but you don’t truly know what you think you know,
Ignorance only takes us back to where we started.
The struggle for survival has made us abandon the righteous path,
Humanity and soul paid as ransom for material wealth.
The elders once said, "Where there's a will, there's a way,"
Yet I've never seen anyone find a way with true intention.
I'm surprised people no longer claim life as their own,
But I have a message for you, my fellow countrymen,
Do you know what? There’s no joy in searching aimlessly.
Claim life as yours, but don't resist just trust.
Each mind has its own unique world,
Don’t try understanding without understanding.
I warn you, my child, don't repeat this again,
Or wait until they lay you in eternal peace.
