Wonderland Secret

I once hung a garland of white
Protecting me from what goes bump in the night
I once laid a vine of red
Best-laid traps  under my bed
Protection from the essence of you
Growling
Snarling
Trying to tear me right through
Gentling the touch
Timid in bravery.
Little did I know
You were not here to save me

 Light as the snow
as it flutters
Landing on heated skin

Synchronized breaths
Words spoken with eyes
Knowing without saying
Truth in the cries
The moon will witness the pain
As we once again
Do this primal dance in vain

Enter

 A path less traveled.
Yet, known by you

The gates open
Recognizing who worked the land
Who tilled the soil
Who watered the garden
To create Eden

There is much to do
Under the watchful eye
Of the moon

Take me
Break me
So I can rise
And glow

Bath me
Save me
With your
Darkness below

With fairy dust
And heated wishes or two
We came together
Wonderland never knew.
