Sweets

I still remember the scent.
Of chocolate,wet cement.
When I was still a child.

And all of the pain was mild.
I remember the scent of pastries.
With cream and chocolate chips.

I remember her cookies.
So good, you would lick your lips.
And maybe homemade,vanilla cake.

That you and your family would make.
Maybe the scent and taste of caramel.
If only I could remember the smell.

I would have a fairytale to tell.
One day,I will also try to bake.
Maybe while painting an ethereal lake.

I will still remember the smell of hot chocolate.
With marshmallows,top it now.
Add in sprinkles,whipped cream.

And you're gonna say,wow!
And you'll love the taste so much.
To the point of a vow.

I still remember the smell of strawberry cake.
A childhood memory of my own.
That happened in my own home.

One day,I'll show you all these scents.
Without spending too much cents.
And we'll travel to childhood together.

Strawberry shortcake - a smell I'll remember forever.
Maybe I sound like I am not sane.
But those scents give me nostalgia,so deep.

Sometimes, they enter my dreams as I lay down and sleep.
If only I could go back in time.
To when I was a kid and ate those foods so divine.

Back to times of happiness and cheer.
When I had no struggles or fear.
Maybe one day I will get a taste.

Of nostalgic cake with chocolate paste.
No memories will go to waste.
If only I could go back in time.

My inner child would begin to shine.
I waited all this time.
For a single slice of pie.

From when I was happy, before  I had to say goodbye.
Maybe one day I will be a strawberry shortcake.
I will be with all my childhood friends.

We will dress as our favorite desserts.
Tiramisu,chocolate cake.
Stirr and let it bake.

And we'll be happy once more, fully awake.
So bake me cookies for my sake.
Add it into the nostalgic cake..

Or maybe one day we'll bake.
A delicious,chocolate cake.

Author's Note
A poem about my favorite childhood sweets from the good old days, represented memories as desserts.
""They say cake is the best.
Strawberry shortcake is not like the rest.
But if you just take  a bite.
You'll sleep peacefully tonight.""
