My Therapy
Went walking barefoot along the crowded beach, sun kissing my nose
Shuffling just beyond the water's reach
Sand sifting through my toes
Hiking the well-used trail alone, shaded by the tallest pine trees
Brings me to a peaceful state
Puts my racing mind at ease
--Chorus--
Every grain of sand that filters through my hand
Every drop of water in this endless sea
Every blade of grass in this wilderness
They are my therapy
Every flower that hugs the road
Every hickory or ancient oak tree
They are my mental medicine
And nature is my therapy
In the middle of the road there is a tree reaching for the sky
They built that road around it
No one needs to ask why
Climbing majestic mountains, trekking through the snow
The tracks disappear
As the chilling winds blow
--chorus--
I go to all those places that still remind me of you
They feel a little different now
Than the way they used to
They remind me of our perfect life, the way I thought it would be,
There's no going back,
But it's still my therapy
--chorus--
Shuffling just beyond the water's reach
Sand sifting through my toes
Hiking the well-used trail alone, shaded by the tallest pine trees
Brings me to a peaceful state
Puts my racing mind at ease
--Chorus--
Every grain of sand that filters through my hand
Every drop of water in this endless sea
Every blade of grass in this wilderness
They are my therapy
Every flower that hugs the road
Every hickory or ancient oak tree
They are my mental medicine
And nature is my therapy
In the middle of the road there is a tree reaching for the sky
They built that road around it
No one needs to ask why
Climbing majestic mountains, trekking through the snow
The tracks disappear
As the chilling winds blow
--chorus--
I go to all those places that still remind me of you
They feel a little different now
Than the way they used to
They remind me of our perfect life, the way I thought it would be,
There's no going back,
But it's still my therapy
--chorus--
