Procrastination

I need to do my assignment—
my coursework is lagging behind
but today I just can't seem to start it;
I think I am losing my mind.

I don't want to do it so much
that I've ticked off the rest of my list,
and then I made three Christmas presents—
I simply couldn't resist!

I've washed up, and tidied, and folded,
and then put the laundry away.
Because I have done all the chores,
I've borrowed some from the next day.

Spending hours working on Duolingo
won't get all this college work done,
but I love doing French and Italian;
even Swedish (though futile) is fun!

I've stopped for some dinner, and chatted
with family just back from town.
Now it's evening, I'm out of excuses;
I'm finally settling down.

I'm ready to type up my findings;
but I've left all my notes at the school...
which means that I'll have to re-write them
how could I have been such a fool?

So, it looks like I'm working all evening—
please send me your thoughts and your prayers!
I'll start any minute, I promise,
once I've sorted the socks into pairs!
