slight change of plans...

 
we had a plan
reservations made
in the works for months
bringing your sweetie to you

she made a bucket list
& you were at the top

a homecoming...of sorts
revisit all the old haunts
going to Morey's & get your favorite fish
those special cheeses you always used to get
A&W with New York Vanilla ice cream floats

just like the old days...in better times
before everything changed in life
we were coming...I swear
but the universe had other ideas
so we had to pivot quickly
result of which...delaying it
...only by a year

I miss you...she does too
all your girls do

so there's a cabin on an old farm
with a firepit & 13 untouched acres
pure beauty of nature
just a couple hours from home
& we're sitting around the fire
toasting marshmallows in your name

I'll light a candle...
but you have to come blow it out
so we know you're still with us
sit with your girls
& feel all the love

next year...
...goddess willing...
...we'll be there

this year...& every year...
your birthday will be saturated
with all the love we embody
at a bonfire birthday party
