The traveler

I woke on an unfamiliar bed
body ravaged and aching head
I knew I was alive but felt closer to dead

Memory assailed my numbed thought
Shaky legs attested I was good for naught
A glance through the room I was in
Tells of where I had been
A few bottles of strange brew
A few empty glasses about
A half dozen naked  bodies lay strewn
Stale smell of cheap drought

Stumbling I reached the door
Looking back at the carnal carnage on the floor
Ruefully I smiled in the dusk
Onward , forward I must

My horse snickered in disgust
anxiously awaiting for my toes to nudge
My sympathy was shared with my horse
This place reeked of evil and dicourse
Though it all was worth my saddle bags filled with pixie dust

Had I not stopped for a small sherry
I have never been one to berate my self for pleasure
Though two bags of this rare treasure .....

They hail me from afar two senior elf
Their eyes gleaming as they move with stealth
I nod in greeting and smile with wealth
My horse canters to the golden shelf

My bags seem heavier now
As before the queen I bow
A strange furrow crosses her brow
As she grants me what is mine now

Celebration into the night
I am no more a traveling kite
I have found a home and with it might
