Looking

What does it mean to look?
To really look at something?
To absorb it fully.
A flower
A tree
A painting
A partner
A lover
Making  something your world
Your focus
For a moment
However long it is
To feel it
Beyond your senses
Tendrils of your being
Reaching out
Making it a part of yourself
To really look
To understand
More than just shapes
To understand
Loving

Author's Note
This was inspired by a quote from Georgia O’Keeffe. “When you take a flower in your hand and really look at it, it's your world for the moment. I want to give that world to someone else. Most people in the city rush around so, they have no time to look at a flower. I want them to see it whether they want to or not.”
