Earthlings
In the quiet dawn of an Earthling
when shadows bled with light
we emerged as storm and calm
from oceanic depths
to Zepher heights
Carving our desires
into mountainsides, we climb
with slippery feet and bloody hands
wishing to grasp eternity
in a single grain of sand
We are canyon echoes
rivers tracing invisible lines
across our face
heartbeats of a thousand stories
written in linear time
under Universal grace
Our depths hold savage
and serene, ancient rhythms
joy and sorrow entwined
dancing between creation and destruction
every step upon a razor's edge
Yet we are hopeful architects
molding castles from dust
wrestling with our shadows
amid a labyrinth of existence
There is strength born
from our fragility, perfect imperfections
multifaceted shards of contradictions
each fragment a testament
to the complexity of our Being
We are every question asked
and each answer received
while searching for our place
amid an expanding Life itself
We have risen and fallen
upon uncharted seas
forever seeking
always believing
in the infinite expanse of our dreams
when shadows bled with light
we emerged as storm and calm
from oceanic depths
to Zepher heights
Carving our desires
into mountainsides, we climb
with slippery feet and bloody hands
wishing to grasp eternity
in a single grain of sand
We are canyon echoes
rivers tracing invisible lines
across our face
heartbeats of a thousand stories

vati, you write beautifully as ever, but I don’t see myself wrestling
with my shadow in a labyrinth, although maybe on the tube, at rush hour ..

Dear A,
“Yet we are hopeful architects
molding castles from dust
wrestling with our shadows
amid a labyrinth of existence”
Sooooo much beauty in this stanza. I kind of feel like this alone should be a college course in the humanities.
This piece for me, is a lovely work laying out hopes and dreams and questions that come with plausible answers. Very beautiful and peaceful write to end the day. H🌷

"Yet we are hopeful architects
molding castles from dust
wrestling with our shadows
amid a labyrinth of existence" > I love every part of this poem, but this stanza left me speechless.
Such a profound piece, Ahavati, with so much wisdom in your words.

This is phenomenal - so many paradoxes expressed in rich imaged-filled language. I think my favourite would be:
"Carving our desires
into mountainsides, we climb
with slippery feet and bloody hands
wishing to grasp eternity
in a single grain of sand "

Beautiful writing as always with you :) This is deep, soul-searching and soul-cleansing. As said above so much wisdom in these words reaching out and touching us all about what humanity and being human is all about :) Enjoyed.

Since you haven't posted new material in a few weeks, I'm going back a bit to show some acknowledgement for your fine writing skill! This write confirms that, too.
Excellent structure. And obviously the message/theme is consistent and well worded.
Thoroughly entertaining.

Yeah, I'm pretty swamped right now and the energy isn't conducive of writing, unfortunately! I seem to go through phases! Thank you so much for your thoughtful analysis, Mark!
