Summer

The earth felt massive yet motionless.
When my heart twists and hurts lie.
But clouds in secret shapes still crawl bye.
Some in a wispy angel divine.
Hard flapping at the feeder.
The smaller the bird,
the more voracious an eater.
We should be devouring
all those little things, gloriously sweeter.
The brightest of sun rests her rays
silently knowing the stifling sorrow it slays.
We noticed the female cardinal has a scarlet head.
Decorated messengers from beyond the dead.
Is a bird's flight planned?
Like scurrying humans with list in hand.
The summer breezes of rapture,
my heart does capture.
A hint of what we were.
