All For You
Reach into my chest and tear out my soul to feed you
If that's not enough, twist a knife and make me bleed too
Let my insides pour to the ground
Let all that I am be all that I was
If some devil would come to me and offer a deal
I would sacrifice everything if it meant you could heal
The pain in your eyes is unbearable
You deserve to live free from burden
Your beauty and radiance is meant to outshine the sun
If my death could give that to you then hand me the gun
This world needs what you have
You will leave a permanent mark
I would die to give you the chance to live a life with no pain
I would live to make sure all that you want you obtain
Don't give in to fear
Own every room you walk in
If you ever feel like you don't have the strength to keep going
Ill carry you forward while you rest so there will be no slowing
My strength is always on call
Don't be deterred by doubt
You'll never walk alone, on that I give you my word
Ill clear the skies while you spread your wings and fly like a bird
I will give all that I have

I think what I find so heartbreaking about this is the tag of sacrifice and so often what that means, and how difficult that is. Sacrifice can so often be the price of love, and on the flip side, it also makes everything worth it.
I guess nobody talks about that. The impact of it. What it means. Why we do it. And I guess the more I think about that, the more I think about humanity as a whole. We sacrifice because there is something beautiful out there worthy of hope. Worthy of our energy. Worthy of our time.
Makes me think about my own life too, and the things I’ve sacrificed a long the way, but not so much as I’ve sacrificed myself. And yeah… that’s huge.
Can I also say, massive fan of the couplets layout here. Each couplet feels like an individual thought, and I get so much more of a sense of control in this piece. It feels like you stopped and took a breath here between lines, compared to more recent writes.
Thank you for sharing, and for being here. You deserve to be. Don’t forget that.

The thing with sacrifice is that done under the right circumstances or for the right reasons (especially because of the beautiful things or people) it loses its negative connotation. It's something we want to do without question and without hesitation and that sacrifice, in turn makes us feel better. Sometimes that sacrifice can make us feel whole or realize a purpose.
