I'd build a time machine to erase you
Haven't seen you in a while
not since our last slip
my last slip
that left us tangled
in more than bedsheets
In the afterglow
you tell me you
wouldn't change a thing
I don't tell you
I would change everything
I don't tell you
how if I could go back
to our beginning
I would walk right by
your drunken philosophical musings
at that stupid party
where a group of us
stood around with rapt attention
all too stoned to realise
nothing you said made any sense
It's amazing how stupid can
look profound under a black light
I wore my trademark sarcasm
with the lonely smile
I only cracked out for these parties
I only attended because someone
begged me to
I mean these things were meant
to be fun and temporary
as easily forgotten as a condom
kicked under a couch
and only found the next time
someone bothered to sweep
Instead you branded me
slid your fingers past my ribcage
and left the dirty fire of your touch
indelibly linked to my heartbeat
I don't know if I'd be better off
with our history erased
but if I could build a time machine
I'd go back just to follow
the parallel lines of that universe
diverging at that perfect point in time
to see who I could have been
without you
