Is there a reason

We are who we are  
   
Is there a season

Why does it have to hurt    
Our heart is given to love  
 A tear trickles from an eye  
Longing of what was and now denied

I have read sonnets    
and listen to songs    
I have hoped and wished    
and I have longed  
   
I sit here and wait  
In this calm state    
Waiting for the answer  
Is this meant to be    
did he really see through me    
 
I have tried many, many times  
Many ,many ways and still I sit    
   
Who has the answer  
 or is there an answer at all  
Who allowed us to love  
Just lose it all    
   
I will stand up and brush myself off,    
 continue this existence of mine  
Until the next time I sit again    
to contemplate
