Snail Mom?
She loves fiercely and with abandon
No favorites, they’re all adored
Big or small each one has their own special place in her heart
Treading lovingly, collecting shells
Natures fuel and healing power
Earth mother gently nourishing her offspring with such tenderness
Wait!
What?
She said, “I’m a Snail mom”
I said, “Huh?”

Author's Note
For our darling Eerie, whose love extends far beyond a mother’s love with actual human children to include those of the slimy, slithery, snail variety. Literally…Snails.
A full-on snail mom. 🤦🏻♀️
E sent me a pic of Fern, the snail. I’ve just spent the last 90 minutes trying to attach the photo. However, due to my complete and utter lack of technical savvy I was unsuccessful. Just picture a round shell with a slimy odd shaped head and spooky antennae sticking out from it. Got the visual? Good.
Now you’ve met Fern. ❤️

Dear AJ,
So very true. It reminded me of the series All Things Great and Small. Everyone and everything has value and should be loved. Thank you for your lovely comment. It’s lifted me up greatly. H🌷

Dear AR,
Im really glad you liked this. While I feel I can’t take much credit because Eerie is solely responsible for shedding light on this whole other world of snails, I’m very touched and humbled by your lovely comment. H🌷

Dear V,
You are too kind, sir. As I mentioned to Anne just now, it was Eerie who shed the snail spotlight. I am pretty sure being a concrete and tar sort of gal I wouldn’t have given a lot of thought to snails.
I’m very grateful for your insightfully sweet comment. Thank you. H🌷

Dear BK,
I can see why. They just kind of do their thing without a lot of fuss and they have pretty shells. I’m still working my head around the slimy bit but that aside thank you very much for your lovely comment. I’m very grateful. Thank you. H🌷

This was really sweet, Hon.
(I actually had a pet snail when I was a kid. I was a weird kid.)
E sounds like the absolute loveliest of humans, and I'm delighted that you shared a piece of her, and of Fern, with us.

Dear B,
Not gonna lie, my world got a bit more schooled about pet snails. Who’d a thunk? What’s so fun and bright is how many have this affection for them!
Thank you for your sweet shout out to E. Her humongous heart is akin to yours and I’m eternally grateful. Thank you.

Ahhh!!!! You wrote the sweetest poem for me and my little Fern! I am pleased to say that I now have a rabbit snail as well, and his name is Rutherford (the hubs is responsible for that name 😂).
I love the delicateness of the poem. It’s just absolutely beautiful 😍
Thank you my sweet friend 🤎

Dear E,
Will Fern and Rutherford be cohabitating in Fern’s new chick pad? It’s a sweet crib 😊
Your love of all things great and small made this kind of write itself but thank you just the same. xx

Dear D,
All bets would have been off if this had been a snake 😱😊
But you are spot on about the amazing poetess part. I’m very touched by your sweet comment, thank you very much.

You're so very welcome, dear H.
Your "all bets would have been off" gave me a huge smile. I already wrote (thinking it was snake) that I once had a rabbit who I had rescued - he was snake food (poor Pim)
This might put things in perspective :-)

Thank god she didn't name them "Gary"! (Spongebob reference. Lol)
As a long ago owner of some hermit crabs, I can relate a bit. The little armored homes that they carry on their backs. Lol.
I think snails grow their shells, whereas crabs "find" them.
Okay okay! Anyway! What a cool, lovely little write you've gifted Eerie. And also some cheer for us readers to enjoy as well. You are priceless, H.

Dear S,
In a millennium I have not given much thought to snails, crabs, or Crustacea of any type other than I don’t wish to eat them or get them. But the relationships that have been shared from this have shed such an amazing light I can’t ignore it and have found a whole new under the sea world. Thank you very much for your kindness. H🌷

Agreed, I’d never heard of a snail mom concept either but life has such an interesting way of teaching new ideas all the time 😊
I’m chuffed this brought on a smile for you. That makes my day complete. Thank you for your sweet comment. H🌷

We gotta love those who observe nature closely and are able to spill inspiring pieces to remind us of the little things in life.
Well done.
