Morphine or Missing

I am to the point of when
Saying goodbye feels less
Like a wound and more like
A tranquilizer

I swallow it down with one
Waterless gulp
Hands clenched around the little
I own
In absence of who I love

There’s something about flying
A refuge in the sky far from goodbyes
Or maybe in between
Romanticizing the silence
Because I know I can’t be reached
Regardless

Are my ears under pressure
Or is that just suppressed feelings
Morphine or missing
There is no difference
In a head full of clouds
