indeed a chemical chain shackled by fear of pain and an anxiety so great it can't be understood my mortals fake it till you make it never worked for me I slip the chain but I'm trying to forget more than one life, more than one type of pain... I wish you courage on your journey and for me I don't cower when I'm faced with a final choice...

This really does "scream out volumes" of definable literacy of losing oneself to substance abuse.  It really does leave you lost and takes everything from you.  Truly, a curse.  I think this is evocative, emotionally, as I am a recovering addict myself.  Some people may not know how touch-feely that can be. It's like someone places a permanent dread within you, that only slowly gets better over time.  You CAN find what it is that you need to break free and become yourself without the depersonalizing saturation of psychoactive substances.   I am living proof.  Poetry is one good outlet.  The intoxicating lubrication of social persona through self-medicating, as superior and synthetic as it seems, is just untrue.  I hope you find your identity.
