Gift

The currents of the ocean
Stop for nothing
And cares for no one.

Yet it is vital for all,
No matter how small.

Does the whale need to give back
For the gift of the ocean?
But the ocean has such an impact...

What could the whale possibly give?
Surely the ocean would forgive...

Little does the whale know
That just by existing that it provides
More than it owe.

Balance in the community
Through its activities.

But doesn't the whale owe?
How much?
Why?
When?
Does it?
The whale does not know.
It may never know.

It will never know.
