No it doesn't, but the the person you love does leave this world.

My parents were married 47 years and the loss of my dad is a knife in her heart right now.
Maybe someday the memories of her love will help her heal. But then her memories are
robbed by dementia.

This is pretty good for a first try.  You condense enough meaning in what little space you have to express a powerful and moving emotion.  Good job in the transition too.  Builds up to a proper ending.  Really captures the tragedy in losing a loved one.  Anyway, looking forward to more from you.  Take care!
