From Today
I
I heard it calling deftly,
this inner resevoir
of all I had overlooked
and simply ignored
though it swallowed me;
corroding my innermost reaches.
Its voice was wavering
giving me no assurance
that it would contain me fully
and teach me anything
I wouldn't learn by
easing into something
new.
I took an unnerving swan dive
and swam into a vastness,
my perceptions clouded
until I only felt a tingle
of the deftest poisons buoyancy
amidst glittering foam.
II
I was without yesterdays clarity
and the pasts condolence, scanning
through reddened reluctant eyes
colors garishly blinding
and yet never reminding
itself of stark reality.
Burst apart, fears numbing
in dissolution giving way to peace,
a strange version of it being chronicled;
a view from above as if
the sky had sharpsighted vision
and yet could not provide
answers.
III
For at a distance
it appeared alive and moving
revealing my perspective
of how small I truly am
and how large the things
I struggle against
loom above.
Why do they move this way
the horizons as if they
are already in finality
letting repetition go
seeing everything through
as if we will ever merge with
some glorious end.
IV
The vaporous esters
told everyone inside me their story
how they wanted to become
blue clouds of disguise
amongst the palest palette
hiding under all we shuffle
through --
And the skies were sighing
about the ruins they cast light on
just when everything became dark
and everyone inside the dream
ran headlong into its vast array
singing something about
this being as renewable
as wings unfolding.
V
Where does it end the flowers
the microalgae and the polyps
the many incrustations and crustaceans
with their clinging digging feelers
are they eternal and infernal
the tiniest forms of gods
who look on --
Every leaf has some reflection
yet within this apparition
everything gone past remains
cloaking its true meaning
leaving us to figure it out
as if it has any bearing
on the next steps
we indubitably take.
