Taking Meds
I’m taking my meds now
I have just two choices
To live in the hurt
Or quiet the voices
The meds were prescribed
You take them at night
They make you feel numb
In time you lose sight
But do you know what’s worse
Than that oh so numb feeling
After feeling so much nothing
What starts you on healing
It’s the sensation of drowning
Of holding on to your breathe
Knowing when you inhale
The fire burns through your chest
It’s living through pain
No one can see
It’s hurting inside
Very little left of me
I have just two choices
To live in the hurt
Or quiet the voices
The meds were prescribed
You take them at night
They make you feel numb
In time you lose sight
But do you know what’s worse
Than that oh so numb feeling
After feeling so much nothing
What starts you on healing
It’s the sensation of drowning
Of holding on to your breathe
Knowing when you inhale
The fire burns through your chest
It’s living through pain
No one can see
It’s hurting inside
Very little left of me
