Endings - Journal

Joseph and I fell in love with the idea of love. It was intoxicating, consuming us with its sexual delights and promises of forever.

Reality has a cruel way of intruding. Our paths are diverging, pulling us apart like the tides. I know that love alone cannot sustain us. One man cannot sustain me. As beautiful as our love is, it must eventually end with me in the arms of another. How else should it end?

Joseph thinks I’ll one day be his wife. If I’m honest, I know I’ll never have a committed, lifelong relationship with any man. I cannot be any man’s wife.
