EXPECTATIONS IN A RELATIONSHIP

It has taken me years
and several relationships
to get the relationship jacket
on straight and workable.

I used to have the timeworn
attitude that the other person
in a relationship would and should
do as I desire and meet MY needs.

As a graduate of the "School
of Broken Relationships"
I have learned valuable lessons
and how to truly respect and love.

Instead of me being the center of
selfish expectations I have
taken a vow affirming that
it is NOT ABOUT ME.

I don't expect YOU to be
PERFECT IN TRYING TO
MEET MY EVERY NEED OR
PLEASE MY DESIRES
BEFORE YOUR NEEDs

My now expectation is
FOR YOU
to be the real, amazing, and
unique, one of a kind YOU.

As YOU are your real self,
with every desire, plus or minus
known, then I love you more.
WHY? It's the REAL YOU.
