Midnight

nightmare in a glance it's you who enchants me
darkness bane I am afraid but I must press further
inside the dark gloam it's your phantom eyes I see
piercing my soul with a stare

I dare not move too quickly
your kept prizes shrink in the shadows
I can't lie I am dismayed by your violence

I stir the air and put them under hex
so they fear no more from the darkness
I entertain your lust encouraging your hate
I can dine on such

chaos my rite I stand in the between
walking both the dark and the light realm
I observe your canines they gleam in the night
I am wary of you but I bite

I take some comfort in knowing I come with legions of protectors
they are delighted to meet you
dining on the carnage of the past and future
there will is to unseat you

barring the eternal doorway to the soul
their desire is to keep you

insulted damnation they have called your name
inside the scorn we discover you are one among us
midnight's lost child
feast now and worry not for anything
