No Monarchies!
Of the rich the poor should be suspicious
since we remember from old afflictions
that too much cash makes them injudicious
and prone to corruptions and addictions.
Evil hides behind tradition's shield
and unchecked influence leads to bad things
which is why old Yankees took to the field
to tell the world that...WE DON'T NEED KINGS!
Yet now we're told to kiss the rich man's ass
and that any sort of foment is treason.
But sometimes, when the boss is ungodly crass,
that fomented voice...is the voice of reason!
Yes, once, the marching deplorables were free.
Now they're..."fired"...by a spoiled debauchee!

I admire your ability to make a deep social commentary without tossing out names. Sadly the wealthy have the corridors of power barricaded so securely (they think), that on the surface things look bleak. My wish for all is the chance to digest the message in one of Prince’s most riveting songs, “Colonized Mind”.
Obama said something on his way out the White House door, like progress being a three steps forward and two steps back sorta thing, and that seems to be proportionate to the roughly two thirds of the U.S. population that are at least somewhat progressive who get intermittently set back by the one third minority of loudmouth conservatives, who want to roll everything back to triple K-1950. The easygoing majority clearly need to get their shit together, as Gavin Newsome suggests.
It shames me to say I'm not too familiar with Prince beyond his big hits, but I will certainly check out that tune and I appreciate the heads ups. I sure do see the "colonizer" phenomenon being mentioned a lot more online, especially since Israel decided to turn full SS stormtrooper on Gaza. It's like they all learned nothing from the Holocaust. Weird.
I do remember Prince being a bit hit with the ladies, and that's a way better influence that any corncobb johnny with a rifle.

You might be surprised with some of his lyrics. "America", and "Sign O The Times", find him channeling Marvin Gaye, at least for me. Some of my funniest moments in working with elementary students is telling parents I introduced the children to a Prince song,, "Starfish and Coffee", which he even performed on the Muppet show.
