Things Unknown

As a proponent of peace and harmony,
I always find it unsettling
to discover that behind the scenes
there are things unknown
- conflict and cruelty,
disparaging remarks

This place has always been a refuge
to freely express
without the scrutiny of judgement
and it bothers me
that people will provoke others
and try and pick away
at the creative gifts,
we only crave to share
with others

Much of what I say,
is unspoken in the real world,
and I save it
for the explorers
and the dreamers,
who also
subsidize silence
beneath the veil
of words and ideas

I can explore lust
and certainly get great pleasure
in doing so,
but there are also matters
of the heart and acceptance
and the trials of finding our footing
in an unresponsive world

I understand,
as time slips by
that those ideals
I hold precious
are not always
dipped in reality

But if you feel hate,
or the need to penetrate another's peace,
please reconsider.
