Dark Dreams

are dreams a glimpse of truth....

my slumber begins on the threshold of a dream
pavements yellowed by gangrenous lights
haunting spectres of memories unleashed
by the threads of reality loosen by sleep

you appear flitting in and out of the light
giggling with your mouth wide open
filled with teeth that are yellow and sharp
your fingernails click as you snap your fingers

the midnight garden on unhallowed ground
dripping red liquid from crushed roses
strewn all over the ground petals plucked
and you laugh that evil gobbling laughter

you hiss my name in mocking whispers
you say you lied and you never loved me
get it into your stupid head, Grace
you were nothing to me just a name

all the poems I wrote for you
I also wrote for someone else

I wake up to a silent night
but your laughter rings in my ear.
