What Makes A Woman a Virgin

That is an honest question that was proposed by a member of my Black Caucus Nursing Chapter Five, and ladies, yes, we know anatomically speaking, when a woman’s hymen, the shield of her virginity, once it is broken in the course of sexual penetration, she is not considered pure from that day forward.

From there, we laughed and was on the verge of moving along to our next agenda, but low and behold, a member asked us. If a woman has Anal Sex to give her comfort, or use a dildo to arouse her clitoris, where she can still have a healthy orgasm, with that being said, is she still considered a virgin and does her acts of pleasing her deem her unworthy in society's eyes as being unpure.

You should have heard the atmosphere in my brownstone it became quiet for the moment for everyone to ponder the thought.

Well, you know me, I had to assess this from several philosophical angles to render my opinion, well my verdict. Then from a medical standpoint, and among several of my profession collogues there were several variables to take into consideration and several hypothesized conclusions.

In retrospect, how feminists who have sexually fasted and, the adaption of the now, #MeToo movement. Society is beginning to write its own rules concerning if and when a woman is considered chaste or not.

There are no more chastity belts of old waiting for a Prince Charming with the magic key to give us fair maidens the Once Upon A lifetime fantasy, as of today, in the new millennium, women no longer have to be subjected to the full measure of succumbing to a panful examination to test the theory of her guarded virtues.

Sadly, to say, in some religion cultures this practice still takes place here today.

In my eyes, once a man has broken the seal of virtual no matter how many words you dress up the act, a virgin is a virgin, right.

Not so fast, and according to my research, being a traditional virgin has several different definitions behind hat oath of approval. That beautiful act of engaging two consensual adults of man and woman has magnified into the criteria of a person regarding this significant debate of will.

Before I give You My Medical Opinion, We Must Know Exactly What A Hymen Truly Is.

Medically speaking the hymen is a thin piece of tissue that surrounds or partially covers the vaginal opening.

Be advised this protective membrane is fashioned during the advancement and present during birth.  One must take into consideration, the size, the shape, or even the thickness of the hymen is distinctive to each woman and can adjust over time.

What most women are not aware of is, our hymen serves no purpose in the alliance of our reproductive system, or that our hymen heightens our sexual libido, and one notation to take under advisement, it is a misconception to determine if a woman has had sex.

There are some indicators, such as some women not all will feel pain or bleed when their hymen breaks, but most will not notice, well maybe to a husband who believes he is getting a virgin bride, call me prudish, but do the common man really check the sheets still.

And I still would suggest anyone who engages in sexual activity if you are not married to always practice safe sex.  

I must add this and forgive me for straying off the subject, but it must be noted regarding Woman’s Health. There seems to a concern I have noted from writing my medical journals on my blog site.

Woman and Family Planning

I applaud your decisions, however, the transference of any STD (Sexual Transmitted Disease) does not exclude you because you are on some form of contraceptive, such as birth control or you have an IUD (Intrauterine Device) a Norplant in the arm, a birth control patch, on taking the Depo Provera Injections, those method are only good to prevent pregnancy.

Therefore, please practice absentee or have your significant other wear a prophylactic (condom) or sexual abstinence.

Ladies are you aware no woman’s hymen is the same and it depends on the female’s body. The most common ones that come to mind for me during my nursing clinical rotations in Obstetrician and Gynecological and Neonatal many years ago, are an annular and crescentic hymen.

The hymen can tear or stretch from a from several other reasons, that a woman giving up her virginity, some of those everyday activates can include horseback riding, gymnastics, cycling, using tampons or menstrual cups, and even gynecologic exams such as a Pap smear.  The thinner the hymen, the more likely it is to tear.

It’s important to note that the hymen can also be stretched or torn from non-sexual activities, and it’s not a reliable to suggest is a virgin or not.

An annular hymen- The annular hymen surrounds the entire vaginal opening and resembles a donut with the center of the donut being the vaginal opening.
A crescentic hymen- The crescentic hymen is located at the bottom of the vaginal opening and is shaped like a crescent moon.

Then you have other hymens to take name and each one always deepens on the positions.

Cribriform hymen- a hymen that has multiple small holes instead of one moderate-sized hole, imperforate, this hymen covers the opening to the vagina completely.
Microperforated hymen- This particular which almost completely covers the opening to the vagina with just one small opening.

The ironic part is a woman would never know what hymn she possess, due in part, who would tell her.

Virginity is the state of a person who has never engaged in sexual intercourse. The term personally to me means a sexually inexperienced women, but the woman has evolved to encompass a range of definitions, as found in traditional, modern, and ethical concepts, oral sex, or even anal sex.

Then I will go on to add, some, not all, heterosexual individuals may or may not consider the loss of their virginity through penile-vaginal penetration, how about the individuals who prefer other sexual orientations such as or manual sex in their definitions of losing one’s virginity.

Once again, there are cultural and religious traditions that place special value and significances on this state of pureness, predominantly towards unmarried females, associated with notions of personal purity, honor, and worth, wow, I must say times have changed sense we have incorporated our sexual preference to technology, brothels.

Although virginity has social implications and have significant legal implications in some societies in the past, it has no legal consequences in most societies here today.

As we all came to summarize what constitutes a virgin, in every female’s eye, who partaken in our lengthy conversation, now one could walk away with a clear understanding, yet a better outlook.

As the Sunrises upon your Grand Rising and set upon your peaceful slumber, have a positive outlook, stay faithful, and love as if there is no tomorrow.
