Speaking the Lingo

All the bits and bobs
That cross my space
The dilly dalliance sidesteps
Are the key to my truth
The wafting breeze
to decipher my thoughts
And give shape to my language
I’m well jel of your enunciation
Your cut glass echo
We are like chalk and cheese
But the similarities bubble
We have a shared culture
A lovely jubbly hotchpotch
Of history and experiences
That bind us to our motherland
and let us mooch around at leisure
Exploring our love of the slang
Our secret code for where we came from,
a little twin speak
"Bingo" you say
A fellow expat just like me
"Tally ho" I reply
Alright mate ?
Ducking and diving
Trying to survive yet thrive
Did I pull the wool over your eyes
With my fancy speak
Suggesting elegance and intelligence
Or can you see through me
Ta ta for now my love
I’m so sorry to disturb you
Return to our castles
and I’ll wave at you from mine.
