Farewell Unsaid

I waited in the twilight's gentle glow
besides Soul I stand waiting for words
that he had woken from his slumber
his fate held in dream's tender hand.

whispers of prayers and love unspoken
I embraced a fanciful thought
that we had moments shared
our union was in Maya
holding on to strings of love
forged by togetherness on face-time
by our spirits that none understood
in our world created by words

underground strings of poems were written
like drumbeats of hearts shouting for him
to wake up wake up conquer pain
he refused to wake, his sight grew dim

as fate met him in a dance of death
the drum rolled once more
free to fly he took the chance
his soul rode on with the destiny
where no pain nor sorrow remained
no words of goodbye no grand farewell
he slept on and silently went away
the chain of poems gently fell like confetti

No famous last words
nor drama
just faded away

leaving pieces of hearts strewn on the
field of hope.

Author's Note
Soul never said goodbye when he was really sick. He actually texted he was drifting in and out and would answer when he could. That was his last word to me. at least. My father never said goodbye too, he told my eldest sister to bring his good shoes for him to wear when he get discharged from hospital. My mother asked my brother to cut the grass outside her house when she was sent to the hospital. Both passed away in the hospital, although my mother outlived my father by many years.
