totally eclipsed...

 
it was a weekend with a dual purpose
to watch sun disappear behind moon
and a chance for me to get away from the mundane
go on an adventure
let my hair down & have a little fun
Willow style...submerged in nature
and I did
exploring monuments & caves
taking in incredible landscapes
Black Hills backdrop to a cerulean sky
it was there I lost the thread of the trip
having a moment most unexpected
witnessing the spirit of man
in breathtaking granite
as the world continued to move around me
I stood in silence
transfixed & bewitched
time stood still for a single inheld breath
pivotal...
...I knew I would never be the same
such symbology is a rarity
a gift I couldn't deny
and I scrambled to capture the magic
...in mere poetic verse
before I continued on along my journey
distracted...
...but infused
until I found myself
standing beneath a darkened sky...
...at midday
witnessing another wonder
day joining with night
ironic in my mind
that historic glimpse was completely eclipsed
by my own...
...a vision of a mountain
...as a beautiful life
