The notes take me higher
lilting between the riffs
lingering in the refrain
 
Until I can touch your soul
skirting the long shadows at noon
shrinking away, then coming closer
I see you on my periphery looming large
 
The music binds us
a song between my heart and yours
a melody we share
 
The notes tell me you're mine
the riffs join my body and yours

Deeper and deeper still

Shrinking from the light
