Poem
walking thru the crowds
while visiting a local
small town Apple
festival
stood on a corner
to give myself a
break from the herd
mindlessly milling
about
looked over and saw
you
what had it been...
eleven
twelve years?
you were walking
along with your old
father by your side
I looked away
not out of some
sullen nostalgia
or to hide a tear
falling from the
corner of my eye
but in the monster
realization that rage,
much like God, does
not die
I took a few sips of
chocolate coke
and went
home
to something
better
