When Hopes and Dreams Are on The Edge

As I got older I thought life would be smoother sailing
But in the horizon I see a storm and with some raging seas
And though I’m trying to find my inner balance and peace
Fate sometimes shatters illusions and ideological fantasies

As I mature I must endure some trials and tribulations
The goals I had set seem to be taken away so easily
But with poise and calm I’ve got to diffuse this bomb
And I have to do it pragmatically and efficiently

As time passes by the aftermath carries a heavy echo
Beyond the blast zone a wave digs itself into memory
I’ve been burned before and it may be my turn again
As the tide is coming back with the fury of the century

My expectations can feel fragile and hang in the balance
When hopes and dreams are on the edge of the abyss
I’ve been down that road before but now I know better
But this time, I am not afraid to jump into the precipice
