weary bones & dragging feet
how heavy can it be
when it's hollow
but the pull does wear
flesh stretched
almost past bearing
lessons thus earned
come long in the learning
adhering to memory
for all eternity
nothing drags so hard
as feeling empty

This hits so hard, that the impact is something that I know I'll feel long after reading, it truly reverberates .... especially those last two lines of sheer poetic brawn.
