The Fitch Downgrade

By a new conservative measure  
The United States are now less great.  
 
Could it be that our credit treasure  
Might suffer from the stink of hate?  
 
Commerce, capital, and the law conflate  
With behavior linking one and all  
And as a house of cards and ship of state  
Self sabotage will have us sink and fall.  
 
Addressed in Lincoln's Gettysburg Address  
And well before our Civil War  
Were notions of an oblige noblesse  
Subverted by an executive whore,  
impotent to link big money with tact  
And common wealth with ecologic fact.
