Vagaries of times
In youth she was a beauty
But now despite all the upliftings and other surgeries
And even when she dons her most expensive garments
(Black, especially she adores) and puts on a gracious smile
That large Victorian gilt oval wall mirror
Which adorns the entrance hall to the grand mansion
Snickers at her silly ways to try to turn back the clocks
And that makes her only cringe and cry.
But not for much longer as Lady Pitcham nears it
With her favorite cudgel
(The one with which she killed that much too nosy butler ages ago)
And readies to smash it to zillions of pieces.
