Worthless Tenants

Chapter 1
Electricity Bills

Mr. Perry brought some important issues to the attention of the worthless woman who shared the house with him. Firstly, he talked about the electricity bills. He said that the utility company had his wife’s phone number and the company had been sending the electricity bills to her phone, but that edition of the electricity bills only showed the total amount that was to be paid and the due date. Mrs. Perry and her husband could not rely on that insufficient information to pay the electricity bills.
The woman shared electricity with him and she had been receiving the electricity bills with the full information by email. For example, balance brought forward, late payment fee, pervious bills, and usage of kilowatts. She used to send the electricity bills to Mrs. Perry, but all of a sudden, she stopped sending them. Furthermore, when Mrs. Perry approached her about the matter, she responded with a lie and she made an unacceptable excuse. She said that Mr. Perry had downloaded the app of the utility company, and for that reason, she stopped sending the electricity bills to Mrs. Perry. The truth was not in her statement. Furthermore, the utility company did not allow more than one person to use the same account on the app.
Mrs. Perry received the electricity bill for April on her phone, but she did not pay the usual half of it because she did not know whether it had a balance or not, therefore she paid a part of it. She did not know why the woman refused to send the electricity bill to her, but she had a good reason to assume that her refusal to do it was motivated by spite and ill feeling. The ill-bred woman was covetous of other people’s progress.
Mr. Perry made myself clear to the woman. He told her that if the utility company disconnected the service, it would not be his fault because she did not send him the electricity bill and in that case, she should not expect him to pay the reconnection fee. Furthermore, he said that they should bear in mind that they are all adults, not schoolchildren, and therefore they should behave in a professional way. He added that he and his wife would not play dolly house with anybody in the yard. Furthermore, he warned her that if she did not do something about the unfortunate situation, they would end up losing the electricity.
The bills had to be paid, so Mr. Perry made a good suggestion to solve the problem peacefully. He told the woman that if she did not intend to show him the electricity bills when she received them by email, then she should tell the utility company to send the messages to his wife’s email instead of sending them to hers. Furthermore, he pointed out that they had a business arrangement and it was not a childish game. Consequently, the woman sent Mrs. Perry two recent electricity bills that she had been withholding. Mr. Perry told his wife that the woman had embarrassed herself.
The strange thing started to happen when Mr. Perry installed a new shower room in his section of the building and he and his wife stopped using the old bathroom. The woman seldom cleaned the house. Mrs. Perry had to clean the old bathroom ninety percent of the times for five and a half years and her husband decided to put an end to it. He declared that his wife was not a housemaid or servant for anybody in the place. Furthermore, he said that when people shared a home, it was the responsibility of all the householders to help with the cleaning of the house and the yard. He added that the work of keeping the place clean should not fall only on one tenant.

Chapter 2
Children

Mr. Perry made another point with regard to the woman’s children. He said that parents and guardians had the responsibility to control and supervise their children properly. Furthermore, he reminded the woman that she was living with other tenants in a shared place, so she should not allow her children to destroy other people’s belongings. Mr. Perry warned the woman that the irresponsible actions of her children could cause her to spend a lot of money.
According to the law, parents and guardians have the liability to compensate a person for any damage that their underage children cause to the property of such person. Now some people may not demand compensation when someone destroys their belongings depending on the approach of the person or the relationship between both parties, but not everybody will overlook a person’s careless or malicious action. When someone complains about these things, the first thing that stupid people usually say is that the person does not like children, but that is utter rubbish.
Mr. Perry argued that the people who lived in the yard could not say with honesty and truthfulness that he or his wife had ever caused them any trouble. Furthermore, he stated that he and his wife never interfered with people’s things. Mr. Perry told his fellow tenants that he would not tolerate any foolishness from anybody in the yard. He added that if anybody destroyed anything that belonged to him or his wife, he would demand compensation for it, as long as he knew who did it. Furthermore, he said that he would settle matters in court if he had to.

Chapter 3
The Thief

The third thing that Mr. Perry highlighted was the matter about his money that someone who lived in the yard had stolen. He told some tenants about it, but he did not mention it to the father of the woman’s children. Mr. Perry drew other person’s attention to the chain and the padlock that he installed on the front door. He said that he did it because someone went into his room, searched it, and stole six thousand dollars from his drawer. Furthermore, he frankly stated that he did not know who did it, so he could not accuse a specific person. He added that in that situation, all the tenants were suspects, for the culprit obviously had to be someone who lived in the building.
Unfortunately, Mr. Perry and his wife were living under the same roof with a thief and they were not aware of it. Mr. Perry used to leave his front door open when he went to the bathroom and he theorized that the thief watched him and went into his room while he was taking a shower and stole his money. He said that he could not believe that he shared a house with other tenants and that sort of thing really happened to him.

Chapter 4
Squatters

The worthless tenants had a tendency to want free living quarters and they refused to pay rent. They were squatting in the landlord’s yard for many year. Mr. Perry said that based on his observation over the year some tenants had been doing unpleasant things in the yard to make him and his wife feel uncomfortable and move. Mrs. Perry had a meeting with the woman and her common-law husband and she told them that she was aware of their tactics and they were not working. Furthermore, she told them that what they were doing was motivating her to be more progressive. The bad-minded woman asked Mrs. Perry what she meant, but she did not respond to the question.
An elderly woman who lived in the neighbourhood told Mrs. Perry that she saw two tenants working witchcraft in the backyard. She also said that they were sprinkling an unknown substance near the window. Mrs. Perry was not afraid of obeah, so the news did not bother her. When Mr. Perry heard about it, he told his wife that the squatters were trying to get them out of the yard with the objective of taking over the place, but that was not going to happen. He added that witchcraft was foolishness and it could not defeat him.
A young lady named Cindy lived in the yard before Mr. and Mrs. Perry went there to live. The other tenants did not like her, so they treated her badly and they spoke many untruthful things about her. Furthermore, the lazy tenants kept the house in a nasty condition. Cindy moved out because she could not bear the suffering anymore and she could not continue living in the squalid place. Mr. Perry fearlessly told the wicked squatters that he was not Cindy and nobody could get him out of the yard. He added that he and his wife would leave the yard when they were ready.
