#home

Also poems about feeling at home in a specific lifestyle or place in the world. Here you'll also find poetry about people struggling to find a place in society and experiencing the difficulties of coming from a broken home.
Comfort of Home
What brings you home?
The hugs? the Love? the Cuddles?
A smile, warm, inviting?
Does it smell like hot tasty food?
Or warm vanilla? maybe summer flowers?
Does it sound like laughter?
Or music for the mood? Or quiet?
Is it a soft place to sit or lay?
A still hand of comfort?
Soothing silky lips?
Is home a place your mind can rest?
A place to speak your truth?
To spell your heart in words?
Is home a quiet in the storm?
Or sometimes, a place to dance or sing?
Is home the first place you would be?
Every moment,...

Close your eyes,
exhale the weight,
of all of those bones
tucking in your body parts,
all of your follicles,
all of your cells,
set down the faces
of folk you've dismayed,
situations you aren't proud of,
the sea of self-doubt.
Instead list me three,
three things you like
about your brain,
the way it is wired,
the meaning of your joy,
the things that have given you strength.
Now your history,
places you've stepped,
opportunities you've taken,
spaces...

That's What I Should Call A Real Beauty
She looked
at the mirror
and said to herself "Now,
that's what I should call a real
beauty" before her date came and they left.

A New Place For Their Art Class
Marcus came
home and saw Yvonne stand
naked in front of their neighbor Pat
and others drawing Yvonne for their life studies
art class because the studio that
they were using had just
got condemned.

I saw the meadow's stunning
beauty dreaming
a quiet endeavor providing
solace to my troubled mind
A hundred miles of emerald green
waiting to pull me in
I saw the stars as they danced
in the day's demise
Each spoke of their ethereal view
through their stories I saw
myself reflected
I heard a rhythmic, lyrical tune
one never heard but lovingly imbued
It plucked a chord within my heart, yet I knew it not
Lingering memories are what
dreams impart
carrying...

A Light In The Greenhouse
Logan woke up and saw a
light in the greenhouse which
made him peek inside
and
see
his
roommate Renna dance
around the entire room
before she saw her roommate.

We are the objects now
She is woven there
in her embroidery threads
and frayed dressing gowns
all existing to remind me
ragged shoeboxes full
of childhood photographs;
picture-framed walls laugh
if you listen hard enough
her cupboards bursting
with battered board games
kept for two unruly grandkids,
though in truth, it’s because
she can’t let anything go.

Old Houses
There's ghost in her walls
Whistling hisses, cracks, and pops of radiators
From the fire of a steam boiler
Uneven tongue and groove floors
Cracks in the plaster
Smell of everything that came before
Seventeen coats of paint on every inch
Even the plugs and light switches
Wind chilling you from single pane windows
Knob and tube wiring
Old plank doors
Passed from family to family
The happiness and heartbreak
Whispered in your ear
A deep book of lore
Whistling hisses, cracks, and pops of radiators
From the fire of a steam boiler

Animals
I live in the suburbs
Row upon row of similar houses
Running on and on
With nothing standing out
But there's a little park filled with trees
Close by my little slice of suburbia
And every now and then we'll see some of the wildlife
That somehow manages to flourish
So far from where they should be
I've seen deer running down the road
And 3 foxes on my front yard
Probably hoping to find a neighbour's cat
And make it a meal
Even an ugly little opossum
That wasn't afraid of my clapping
When he climbed up on my porch ...

Raphium Series~Chaos
I'm hurting and I'm lost on the Sea of Forgetfulness
Chaos is reigning and I feel at odds with everything
inside my sacredness my spirit child is waiting for me to anchor us
I look to Pleiades to guide my way home
this isn't my original stasis
I wish to shift forms
I am deeply saddened by the war
people are slipping sideways under the weight,
the wait of it all
I sing to the hopeful
quietly, I give comfort
it hurts this world
my anger boils and I want to defend the weak
I didn't know the Earth was so...

Sorya’s Oath
I, Sorya, child of the Mist phoenix, accept the pledge of my bloodline. I will defend my home and destroy and who would seek to destroy it. I will bring hope and healing where it is needed. I will defend the innocent and guard against those who would seek to break the natural cycle that keeps all in the balance. My fire is for my home and its people. I shall not seek to use it for personal gain or for the gain of those who would seek to misuse it. I am Sorya Faylayre and my word is my bond
