Zack's World

The halo holds the twisting head
Who gives grins to the lighted screen
     For flashes fast
     For flashes bright

That captures his eyes instead
Of imprisoning what’s seen
     From his past
     From his sight

Reaching to find winds of whims
To take him to peace pursued
     By lives last
     By lives might

Too real to reckon within
Worlds which sure reason eludes.      (14)

Alert are his hand controls
Which will chart the course they choose
     Through the game
     Through the strain

To live challenge to extol
The most precious who refuse
     The branded name
     The branded gain

So struggles such the eyes find
A hope had by none too rare
     That life tames
     What remains

For future returns to kind
And concerned kingdoms that dare.      (28)

The realm teaches some a true dream
To restrain the doomed designs
     That contain
     That contort

How the balance became reamed
By breaks in straight streamed lines
     Of refrains
     Of retorts

So troubled some try to paint
Paths he plows to perceive
     The remains
     The resorts

Of any that are so sainted
They are nothing but achieved.            (42)

Spirit lights his freckled face
That glows true to the joy had
     Seeing life
     Being free

By those so bound to their place
But Zack delights for the fad
     With no grief
     With much glee

That channels what’s not his own
But imagined escape there
     From the rife
     That he sees

To his wonder of what’s known
In his world of such great care.            (56)
