A Few Questions
Can one love a country and yet not be uber nationalistic?
So proud of capitalism at all costs
that the only focus is being number one
and identifying all other countries as inferior?
Can one cherish the idea of choice
and yet participate in an electoral system
in which labels mask the way
two parties play the same games?
Can one be a part of a system in which conformity
is encouraged and rewarded
and yet at the same time be a voice for change
when public perception is so bleak?
Can one enjoy athletic contests
where even the worst performing teams
are worth six billion dollars
while many of the team's followers struggle to afford housing?
Can one partake in consuming the products of the mass media
while opposing monopolization
support those artist not afraid to scrutinize power structures
and not wrestle with seemingly never ending contradictions?
Can one have empathy for the plight of people of the world
and harness that in a way that it isn't manipulated
by leaders whose goals aren't to help
but rather to maintain power?
Hmm, Dylan said, "the answer is blowing in the wind"
