Why Should I Care About Evans? - NaPoWriMo2023 #10

I never particularly
cared
for the supposed
English obsession
with death and murder,
featuring stuck up
posh pricks
and
working class scoundrels.
All orgasming about death
and defiance of their
boring ordered lives.
And other class struggles,
I neither cared for
or was catered for.

I always preferred
the slow introduction
of the Outsider,
the overlooked investigator
with quirks and foibles,
fumbling their way
at least in appearance,
but as sharp as a bacon slicer.

Suffice to say
I never cared for the dead
or daring dastardly
murderer;
I only watched the
enigmatic detective.

Pity someone had to die,
but they could only
solve the case
once the dead was deceased.

Author's Note
Entry #10 for NaPoWriMo2023.
I identify more with the quirk-filled thinker, than the begrudged homicidal citizen.
Inspired by the 2023 version of "Why Didn't They Ask Evans?"
Image is the inimitable David Suchet as Hercule Poirot
