Image for the poem I Was Young Again

I Was Young Again

With him I was young again
filled with giddy delight.
Becoming my teenage self,
I learned my body again as
sweet voices of his sisters
sang in the next room.

While I danced over my new lover,
his mind must have hummed
with the newness of it all.
My thoughts were of the
urgency of life at eternity's edge.
Missing even a second of this
would be a tragic loss.

Author's Note
Dear daughter. I miss you but I'm seeking pleasure with a frantic urgency right now. While staying with a friend's family recently, I felt transported to a younger time in my life with her oldest son. Do I look happy in my picture?
