I sense ageing helps one filter out the crap and gain clarity about the real essentials and priorities of life (as do life threatening experiences at any stage of life).  But death is the great equaliser in terms of everybody, rich and poor, has to adjust to going through the process. I think about it quite a lot these days and find myself being more grateful for each day, another day, in which to live more appreciatively. In the poem I like the 'dig in' notion especially.

I agree Josh. I'm fully aware that everyday could be the last day. Dig in!

Aging sucks buts it's comic in a way.
Everyday something else hurts But by the next day something else replaces it.
Weird but true
It's a time of life to not let stupid shit bother you like it used too ..

bk, I always admire your views and outlook, especially when it comes to dropping bits of wisdom in your pieces that leave me wanting more. Getting old, our minds and bodies going through that process give us a different perspective at each phase. For those of you on the higher stage must have quite the view.

I can actually see the end of the road some days, wally. I look back and see the futility of it what was chased in younger days.

It's like aging has happened in a blink, sheesh! .... I cannot believe 50 years has gone by already... I take solace in the fact that no one escapes time's ravages... Yes, misery loves company!
