Unwarranted Judgement
In your disaffection, I’ve been alone
tormented, shamed, it is me you deject
the wickedness of your tongue, all I’ve known
shunned, an outcast from the pain you deflect
Oblivious you were to secrets kept
you saw a delinquent, misfit at best
a reality, you would not accept
an innocence you had, I was not blessed
Blinded, guided by the youth you perceive
our mismatched histories cannot compare
unable to see the reasons I grieve
you could never have known, you were not there
Disgraceful in your ignorance of thee
knowing not the chronical of my past
formidable truth you refuse to see
judged, left in madness by shadows you cast
Now we are grown, forgiveness in my heart
But wounds that have scarred shall never depart
tormented, shamed, it is me you deject
the wickedness of your tongue, all I’ve known
shunned, an outcast from the pain you deflect
Oblivious you were to secrets kept
you saw a delinquent, misfit at best
a reality, you would not accept
an innocence you had, I was not blessed
Blinded, guided by the youth you perceive
our mismatched histories cannot compare
unable to see the reasons I grieve
you could never have known, you were not there
Disgraceful in your ignorance of thee
knowing not the chronical of my past
formidable truth you refuse to see
judged, left in madness by shadows you cast
Now we are grown, forgiveness in my heart
But wounds that have scarred shall never depart

Thank you dear Crim. Childhood trauma often leaves a scar that most can’t see. I’m sorry you identify. Much love.

Has the feel of a pivotal relationship to me, as perhaps with a parent, nice control in the pace of the voice.

Sometimes we find ourselves carrying generational trauma on top of those experiences from our own lives. It's not easy to unravel it all, and heal. The poem captures a real sense of truths on this account.

Dear M,
I continue to wonder if we ever shed the trauma of childhood experiences. I like how your poem has a rhyme throughout. When we are first introduced to poetry it is through rhyme and that lends itself so wonderfully to the subject. Yours is a tender reflection I find very forgiving and that helps me reassess how certain memories are remembered for me in a more positive vein. Terrific write. H 🌷

Dear H,
I don't know that we shed them either but I can't hate the experiences that made me the person I am today. I am proud of the person I have become despite the trauma. I possess kindness, compassion and integrity. That is not to say it didn't take some real emotional work to get here. Thank you for the lovely comments and taking the time to read. Bless.

This poem resonates. The scars of trauma can be deep but healing is possible. Great write, smooth flow. Really enjoyed this piece.

Dear Bianka,
People who live in judgement are always wrong. They don't know what shit others have had to walk through. Don't let those that judge hold any space in your head. I went to your page and commented. Based on the picture, I think you should read my poem Indiscriminate. You may identify with it. Thank you again for your lovely feedback. Bless

Dear bhad,
Thank you for taking the time to read and respond🙏 I am glad you were able to sense the pain as well as the forgiveness. Holding on to resentments only allows space for trauma to be relived. Bless.
