Jungle Eyes    (with reading)

Come, fall into my eyes
It's a jungle in there...
green with vibrant life,
jewelled dewdrops joyful,
the mischief of monkeys,
full spectrum of secret delights:
your reward for wanting
to fall into my eyes.

Come, fall into my eyes
It's a jungle in there...
green with mean envy,
dank tangled anger,
the prowling of tigers,
dark clawing vulnerabilities:
your punishment for daring
to fall into my eyes.

Come, fall into my eyes
but it's a jungle in there!
Green means go,
still I can't promise safety --
the flowers have thorns
and there are snakes in the fruit.
It's a journey of wild beasts
and miraculous diversions,
I just hope you won't grow weary
of falling into my eyes.
