How Could
I've watched you listen to what others think
Now hold my hand let me walk you to the brink
By peering over the edge the truth is clear
With a clear conscience it's easy to accept what appears
Do you remember days of olden times
When I spoke of righteousness and powers divine
Dedicating yourself today for tomorrows are mine
Feel the truth, look to the horizon, and see me shine
Everytime you faltered you claim a need for spiritual uplift
When praying alone closes the rift
By holding my hand you can see over the edge
Take the time and pull someone else up on to the ledge
How could you doubt that I care
When thru bad and good I'm there
To pull you near and fight off your fears
Can you deny that I'm here
Like the wind my sigh
Treachery and evilness, I despise
To see you plotting again and again
Makes me sigh like a hurricane
How could you believe in evolution
To believe is revolution
The theory of human existence
For some will always be in a phase of suspence
Would evolution forgive so many mistakes
The destruction of so much claimed in my namesake
Knowing there is no taking in true giving
For I promised no death for righteous living
Don't you know that I see what is going on
The bond between brothers and sisters is torn
But certain decisions have to be made for yourself
Like instead of stealing, put it back on the shelf
There's a big difference between innocence and righteous
To believe isn't asked, it's a must
There are certain things given at birth
Life and innocence seemingly simple have great worth
Because all else you really must earn
No matter how much it's taught, it still must be learned
Righteousness is a goal for all to reach
But only by listening to what I teach
Although in my heart there is no last
You've still got to try in order to pass
Within true trying there's no such a thing as fail
Don't worry I'll help, even a boat needs the wind to sail
I promised two steps for each one of yours
Bathe in knowledge that clears your mind's pores
There is deliberate temptation there among you
Placed there to see which course you ensue
For without temptation there is no true trial
No true test of the pile
Not pile of lies, but best of the batch
The one thing that all religions have that match
I want the pick of the litter
The ones destined to endure not the quitters
The ones that stood fast against temptation
Willing to defend my honor against a nation
And who's aware that they're never alone
Hearing my voice on the wind in the softest tone
Thanking them all for a job well done
And begging them all to come on home
Now hold my hand let me walk you to the brink
By peering over the edge the truth is clear
With a clear conscience it's easy to accept what appears
