distress without human compassion
 
nights without lights
lights without their radiance
radiance without afterglow
afterglow without enlightenment
o what a fright!
prominence without empowerment
 
skies without birds
birds without wing or song
songs without chord or cadence
cadences without resolution
have you not heard!
such is man's futile revolution.
