I've Forgotten How to Feel on Paper
Poems write themselves
while I'm in the car
or taking a shower
lines and rhymes flicker
at the edges in half-sleep
But when I have pen in hand
or keys under fingertips
the will and the words evaporate
seek the safety of ether
reject the solidity of black and white
All writing remains the property of the author. Don't use it for any purpose without their permission.

Welcome back!
The half sleep rhyme flicker!
Sounds like threshold consciousness to me.
Keep a dream journal.

Most of my dreams do not merit journaling. :D I have, many times, roused enough to write things down when they felt worthy. I just can't seem to get to the writing part very often lately. Thanks for giving this a place on your reading list, and for the nice comment. Very much appreciated.

OMG, YES!!! All the time. I have volumes of poetry books in the dark recesses of my brain. Sadly, that's mostly where they're going to stay.
But every once in a while.... keep writing them!

I feel you, intimately. There are worlds we touch into, when we are quiet, the heart is an ocean of continents that rise and submerge.

I once read a quote from someone somewhere about writing from the scar and not the wound. Though, I think I've mostly been a wound sort of writer. It gets a bit muddy when it's somewhere between the two, or when I'm something more like comfortably numb. Appreciate the read and response on this. I know I've not been very active, and didn't reply in a timely matter.

Thank you. I suppose if we could just press a button for it, then it probably wouldn't be worth doing or mean very much. Sometimes the words come, and sometimes they never feel adequate, do they? Appreciate you stopping by to read and comment.

Same, my friend, same. I go through long dry spells in which no matter how hard I try lines just won't come. Then, all of a sudden, something happens and the floodgates open. Eloquently and enjoyable expressed thought. Thanks for sharing!
